I was in the mood to do a sketch paint sort of thing and I ended up painting a portrait of a gal from DA. My focus was to work somewhat quickly but to land enough of the details to have a solid looking piece. I sort of wish I had painted at a larger scale so that I might have it printed. A portrait done of the lovely Navate of http://www.navate.com. I made this piece for the Pixelbrush forum art challenge, but more than anything I made it just because I thought it would be fun to paint Lauren.

I worked on this roughly for a day and sort of rushed some of the finer details towards the end. Critiques of course are always welcome, however I probably won't be going back to work on this piece again. Anything I can learn from and carry into the next image I make is good though.

A personal piece I had been working on a bit recently. I wanted to do something with a strong "fantasy" theme, so you can't really go wrong with a girly faun watching faeries emerge from cocoons.

Another piece commissioned for the book 'The Art of H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos'. I don't take it upon myself to paint men very often, so when I'm commissioned for a piece with a male subject it's a bit intimidating. I had fun working on this guy though, and I like the overall mood of the image. A commissioned piece done for the book 'The Art of H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos'. I had way too much fun making this image, because it's fairly outside of my comfort zone. As a general rule I like to paint pretty girls, not giant flaming, tentacled beasts. That made it a really neat project for me. I'm happy with how it turned out, even if it has some rough spots that need a bit of work. So this piece was rather painful to work on, haha. It underwent a number of revisions before it was finally considered "done" - though a number of things could have used more tweaking... most notably the beard and the blood splatter. This painting is actually a little older, but I think it holds up rather well. I keep meaning to go back in and refine the trees and foliage, but haven't made my way around to it yet. This piece is actually being used as the promotional art for the short independent film entitled 'The Winged Man'.
